Sometimes it's fun to just turn off your brain and watch a movie about things blowing up. If you can get your logic centers of your brain to be quiet, this can be a fun movie. You won't have to try too hard. Cold air isn't stopping airplanes in their tracks, like in Geostorm. Instead, people just survive ordeals that they probably shouldn't have. Plus, the bad guys have questionable motives (as do many of the side characters). This makes the plot a little rough, but it's still a fun movie.
Skyscraper is about a man trying to save his family from a towering inferno! Yeah, it's not a new idea, but this has some twists that make it more original not exactly the same as all the others. Ok, sure, each one is only slightly different. But this one has some of the best special effects! In this one, The Rock is a security expert who know the building 'better than the architect'. Then the building gets taken over by bad guys who start a fire and turn off the anti-fire systems so it spreads. BUT THE ROCK'S FAMILY IS IN THERE!!
So it's no Die Hard. But it's a decent action flick with explosions and bad guys and heroes. It's not gonna win any awards, but it was worth the time. I'm glad I had MoviePass, cuz it probably isn't worth $15, but it was worth the time. To be honest, I liked Rampage more, but this is still some good mindless fun. If you like movies with more action than brains, you'll like this one. There isn't much for gore, either, so it can be good for a wider audience. No nudity or sex, either! So take your (slightly older) kids!
